Joining Twitter Directories
Similar to the idea of directories listing websites, there are directories listing Twitter profiles. Having recently joined Twitter, I am fresh ready to add my Twitter profile to Twitter directories. Here are two Twitter directories that I listed in.
Joining was straight-forward. I entered my twitter userid 'davidsyw' and was added to the Twellow database. I did not actually sign up with Twellow for now. I will have to explore how best to make use of Twellow, an exercise yet to be started.
Joining was straight-forward, again using 'davidsyw' as my username. Areas of interest were offered for my choosing. Be aware than upon completion of the sign-up process, WeFollow had updated the listed website on my Twitter profile to link to my Twellow profile. I changed the link back to This1That1Whatever.com.
In general terms, the strategy is to leverage Twitter directories as social media networking opportunities by building a presence and links. Traffic and links originating from my Twitter directories profiles flow into my website and into my Twitter profile which flow into my website. Specific strategies will have to be developed for leveraging my Twitter and Twitter directories profiles in addition to my Facebook social media networking initiatives.
The inherent benefit of social media networking is the sharing and spreading of the word on my web properties. Whether it is referred to as "link love" or "like" or "tweet me" or "follow me", it all boils down to visitors finding and returning to my web properties.
Another area of benefit that applies to all social media networking sites is their presence in the search engines. As search engines find my profiles on social media networking sites, they will be additional sources of traffic and links back to my website. Establishing social capital and link credit are vitally important strategies for my website venture.
