I am not sure what the real purpose is behind this challenge. I suppose it was more a programming exercise than anything useful. On the other hand, it does illustrate how exceedingly hard it is when the odds are against you. Bear this in mind the next time you consider buying lottery tickets. Oh, I buy lottery tickets from time to time. I don't always let logic dictate what I do.

Odds of being struck by lightning: 576,000 to 1
Odds of being killed by lightning: 2,320,000 to 1
Odds of winning the California lottery: 13,000,000 to 1
Odds of winning the Canadian Lotto 6/49 jackpot: 13,983,816 to 1

As the saying goes, you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than winning a lottery. I take shelter when there is lightning. I buy lottery tickets despite the odds. I think about this page after buying lottery tickets!
