Patent Wars

The smartphone and tablet patent wars between Apple and Samsung are continuing with Google being dragged in. They are returning to court in April/2014 with Apple suing Samsung for $2B. Samsung is counter-suing for patent infrigement as well. The previous court battle in 2012 ended with Samsung being ordered to pay damages to Apple in the amount of $930M.

It is becoming increasingly clear to me that the U.S. Patent System is seriously broken when it comes to technology patents especially related to software. Patents have become a game for litigation and have little to do with the protection of innovation and invention.
